Night with the Pros a Success!
We had about ninty people show up for the first Night with the Pros. From what I can
tell every one had a great time and learned a lot. I would like to once again thank
Dimitry Kachkovski, Richard Rosenman and Shawn Hendriks for taking the time to come
out to Humber and share years of knowledge with every one. It is great to hear from
people that want to share what they have learned from working in and around productions
for so many years.
Thank you to every one that came out as well, without you there wouldn't be much point
in doing it at all. Also thanks to the game programers for joining us and sharing the night.
Terry managed to get some better pictures so I will try and get those posted as well.
These are just off my cell phone.

April 22, 2009: Blizzard is Hiring.
Well it looks like the 3D industry is bouncing back a bit from the recent down turns in the economy and companies
are starting to hire again. Blizzard is one of the major players in the business and is in a position to hire
around 100 people in various positions from writters, 3D artists and programmers.

April 1 2009: Warning, Conficker Virus!
Today is the day that the Conflicker virus is set to hit. Make sure that you manually update your virus checkers
and that they are running. One of the results of the virus is it will disable your virus checking software
and stop it from retrieving updates. Also make sure that you check all jump drives and portables before you start
pulling data from them onto your home machines. Humber is notorious for getting viruses from students that are
not practicing safe computing;)

| Sept 22 2008: Web Board Updates. |
|
I have had to make data base changes to the web board so that I could add all the new students. This may have caused problems
with recent posts. If your post has gone missing please just post again as it is lost forever.
All new students that created proper user names have been let into the Humber3D Web Board. Every one else will have to email me at
my humber account and let me know which account to delete so that you can recreate a new account. You can't just create a new account
as your email will already be in use. Do not just create a new dummy email account as you will be contacted from time to time using the
email that you signed up with.
Thanks, Paul Neale

"Felipe Nogueira has been capable of applying his skills at many
different 3d projects,
constantly learning and growing as an artist. He was able to take on a
junior position right after
completing his schooling and demostrates a very good base knowledge of
the 3D field. He is a talented
artist with a bright future."
Ben Pilgrim
Technical Artist
Redrover Studios
Commenting on Felipe Nogueira, graduate of the Diploma Program at Humber.
"We hired David as a student from Humber as an Intern for the summer. We knew Humber had a reputation for quality and high standards when it comes to their graduates.
Nevertheless, we stunned by the level of competence this student had. Not yet in his final year, David was able to jump on any task we threw his way. 3D animation,
modeling, flash animation, layout - were easily accomplished by him because he had already learnt the programs and understood the language of the industry.
He is a creative person whose work ethic is exceptionally positive. Humber College has helped create an individual with not only the perfect skill set for the industry,
but the attitude and ambition as well. When it comes to hiring artists in the future, we will continue to seek out individuals from this institution."
President & Co-Founder, KeyFrame Digital
Commenting on David Emirzian, graduate of the Diploma Program at Humber.
"Dimitry was able to wrap his head around this stuff, and is now doing real work on real projects in no time.
Dimitry hit the ground running and became a productive member of our team in no time. Usually there would be more of a training period."
"I'm glad we have him, he is really productive after hardly any time, and now that he knows the pipeline more, he makes informed
comments about stuff, and it helps a lot."
Chris Evans: Lead Technical Artist , Crytek, Germany.
Commenting on Dimitry Kachkovski, graduate of the Diploma Program at Humber.
Dimitry was hired as a Technical Artist at Crytek.
"The students I have hired from Humber are the most knowledgeable I've come across. They have an acute understanding of not
only what makes great 3D, but what makes a great 3D artist."
David Feltham: Senior Designer, Bioware, Edmonton.
